Take the opportunity to learn a little more about work in other Law Centres in the LCN event series "Innovation and Learning". This June session was hosted by Olivia Crowther, Managing Director at Wiltshire Law Centre.
Wiltshire LC shares its fee earners’ experiences with realising a net profit through reliance only on a LAA housing contract. Olivia walks you through how the Law Centre approaches their housing contract, focusing specifically on how they utilise Legal Help disrepair matters to set cases up for inter partes damages and costs awards. She discusses the Pre-Action Protocol for Housing Condition Claims, experts, counsel advice on quantum, applying for LAA certificates, litigation/securing of costs awards and enforcement of costs awards. Additionally, she touches on the funding of cases that are not eligible for LAA certificates and alternative funding (damage-based agreements, conditional fee agreements, after the event insurance).
