Public inquiries and inquests: is this justice?

Greater Manchester Law Centre and guests will discuss the need for a 'Hillsborough Law', which would ensure a statutory duty of candour for public authorities. They will question how and whether public inquiries and inquests can be used to deliver justice.

Speakers include:

- GM Mayor Andy Burnham

- Barrister Christian Weaver who represented Awaab Ishak's family in the inquest in 2022 that led to heightened public scrutiny on social housing standards.

- Barrister Mira Hammad, who worked on the Grenfell Inquiry.

- Paul Heron, Public Interest Law Centre.

- Pete Weatherby KC, who represented families in the Hillsborough Inquiry.

Co-hosted by Greater Manchester Association of Trade Union Councils.
